Libertatem's next road show will take place in London in a few weeks where it is hoped that TSC Chairman Andrew Tyrie will be speaking.
In the meantime, Garry Heath will shortly be addressing advisers in the Isle of Man, Yorkshire and Oxfordshire.
Accountability in the Regulatory System - The Way Forward
Libertatem's first road show of the Autumn saw advisers descend on High Wycombe on Wednesday (21 September) to hear what Treasury Select Committee member and local MP Steve Baker had to say.
In what was a lively and informative meeting, Steve spoke to the audience about why the TSC view the FCA as being in 'special measures' and told the assembled advisers how much he valued their integrity, professionalism and expertise.
Commenting on Libertatem's upcoming MP Surgery Campaign, Steve gave advice on how to approach local Members for Parliament and frame their questions in order to get the issues of regulation and costs into the House of Commons.
He also stated that the best way to engage with Government and raise the issues that mattered to the financial services community was to join your local political party and get involved at grass roots level.
The event was sponsored by Lockton who also gave an informative presentation on down-risking your business and ensuring advisers meet the criteria laid down by the regulators.
Closing the meeting, Libertatem's Garry Heath explained why there had never been a greater need for an effective trade association – or a greater opportunity to achieve what was required for the industry to survive. He urged advisers to join Libertatem to help bring this about.
